Class of '68 football players, its time to make a difference. I've made a donation and I would encourage each of you to check-out NB footballs "needs for 2022" and contribute where you can. - Thad

Broughton Football Family Member,

I hope this email finds you well.  I want to let you know about our current fundraiser and our goals for expanding membership in the Gridiron Club and engagement with the Broughton Football Family.

We kicked off our 2022 Football Fundraiser last Wednesday, 6/1 at R&D Brewing.  We had a great crowd on hand, and everyone had a lot of fun catching up.  I spoke a little bit about the current condition of the program (which is strong) and our needs for the future.  Football is an incredibly expensive sport.  During an average season, we spend between $40 and $50,000 to take care of our players, coaches, and facilities.  When we need new uniforms, it costs an extra $17K.  We’re in a uniform year, so our projected budget is approximately $67,000.  We are hoping to raise nearly half of that amount - $30,000 - through this fundraiser.  Help us reach our goal of $30,000 in 30 days.

In addition to raising money, we are also hoping to increase engagement with the football program, both from former players and parents as well as other folks with ties to Broughton and Broughton Football.  To that end, I would like to ask that you forward this email to any friends or former teammates who you think would like to be an active contributor to our program.  It would be particularly helpful if we could have one former football player from each graduating class from about 1960 to 2021 to volunteer to be a captain for that class.  Captains will work to reach as many former teammates as possible and tie them into the current program.  Please share your contact information with us using this Broughton Football Family Form.

Below you will see an overview of our budget, our schedule for next season, and different levels of giving and the rewards of each giving level.  If you feel moved to give, please make checks payable to Broughton Football and mail them to Chris Dawson @ 4616 Wee Burn Trail, Raleigh, NC  27612, or you can pay with a credit or debit card using this link (Please put “Broughton Football” in the Note section).  Remember that by giving you are helping us achieve our mission of making the world a better place by helping boys become good men.  No program in the state does a better job of using football as a tool for teaching character.

Thank you so much.

Chris Dawson

50th Year Reunion Memories

Welcome Back!!

Needham B. Broughton High School

Class of 1968

A POEM OF REFLECTION ON OUR LIVES UNIQUELY INTERTWINED FOR ALL TIME

Our high school days so long ago, are memories sweet and dear.

Different for each that gather now, but that's what brought us here.

Those fifty years were filled by each with great variety -

With education, jobs and travel, some raised a family.

Still many served our country here or off in foreign lands;

Some taught, some preached and others were creative with heart and hands.

Its such a joy to meet you now in Raleigh once again,

To see those known so long ago and also meet new friends.

Our class so large, so many years ....  and now our memories taxed;

I'll understand (hope you will too), if there's a memory lapse!

But whether first, or once again we gather here to dine,

Great thanks to to those who worked so hard to plan this special time.
