Julie  was my best and closest friend for over 65 years and I am devastated and heartbroken that she is no longer with us.  She was larger than life itself, a truly dear and precious person who loved everyone, and a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend.  She was an angel on earth and now is an angel in Heaven.  Prayers for her and her entire family!!!

Julie was one of the people who welcomed me into Broughton.I came from Virginia and didnt know anyone...I will never forget her kindness and that gorgeous smile..shocked and saddened

regards to everyone who were her friends

I will never forget the first day of school at Daniels Jr. High. My homeroom teacher was Mrs. Herbert, and my first friend was Julie Anderson. Words can not begin to express how much I loved Julie and treasured our friendship. Integration in Raleigh  Public Schools was just beginning & my cousin Marilyn Williams and I along with several more of our Oberlin Elementary School classmates were chosen to go to Daniels for the 7th grade.  We (Julie & I) sat side by side  in homeroom and she turned to me and smiled.  It was wonderful!  That smile was even more welcome when we had afternoon  Math & Science with  Mr. Keyser. Julie was a real friend and always had a positive attitude. She also had PEP - lots and lots of  pep! The word Genuine comes to mind when I think of Julie. She was never one to "put on airs", or act like she was better than anyone. Julie was one of the students from school who would always speak to you anywhere - the mall, grocery store, wherever we would happen see each other Julie would wave & say something like; "Hey Verna....".  It didn't matter if she was alone , with her mom or with another friend. Not everyone from school would do that. Genuine Friend, Julie Anderson Holderness.  We were reunited at the 50th Class Reunion, and I was so glad to see her. She hadn't changed one bit. The news of her death left me stunned. Such a wonderful person gone. My thoughts and prayers go out to her family.

RIP Julie  You will be missed.

Julie and I were instant friends having met in the seventh grade at Daniels and nothing changed over the years through Broughton.  Once you met her; you never lost her friendship.  Her smile brighten the corridors as we transversed from class to class.  Though we didn't have a lot of classes together, Julie didn't forget you. You could count on her smiling face and quick her hello as we scurried off to class. It kinda made my day, for often others would not speak.

Julie was one of the friendliest persons I've ever met, which is why I find it difficult to write this post.  It just can't be, I thought when my cousin Verna informed me of Julie's passing. She was so cheery and full of life and too young to leave us. Yes, we did reconnect at our 50th class reunion and I'm thankful that we had a chance to catch up on our respective lives. It's pretty obvious from reading the other posts, that Julie was Julie with everyone.  She was authentic--a fine characteristic to possess.

In fear of repeating what everyone has said, I will close by saying our class has lost a jewel. May her effervescent spirit live on in our hearts.  Will miss my friend Julie very much.

Comforting thoughts and prayers to Julie's family.

So very sad to hear of Julie's passing.  Julie was hands down the nicest person I have known.  From early on at Sherwood Bates Elementary through the final days at Broughton, Julie always had a smile and spoke and was always a joy to be around.

I met Julie in the seventh grade and she has always been one of my favorites. The service today was perfect and to listen to Dolly and Torrey speake about the friendship was inspiring. That girl group is special and I hope they all stay close in Julie's memory. God bless her family in their loss.

The tributes to Julie are so touching and emphasize the incredible affect she had on all of us.  She was charming, beautiful and a shining star in our world.  Her loss is devastating.  I watched her service via live streaming in awe; she would be so proud of the heartfelt comments by her dear children and friends.  Truly a life well lived.  We will miss her terribly.  Rest in peace sweet Julie.
