Traveled early on and eventually opened a travel agency in Raleigh and
stayed with that for about 20 years until it became more of a conduit than a business for me......I'm currently based in Pattaya (Thailand) for most of the year, but split time in Phnom Penh.
Remember me as a shy, skinny kid who was terrified of Mrs. Fountain. :-)
Marsha Murray and I being chatter boxes in Mr. Bragg's biology class were both kept after school one afternoon. Our penalty was to sit still for an hour without saying a word (not even allowed to do our homework), and forced to hold back smirks and giggles. Mr. Bragg was one of my favorites, and so was Marsha.

Hey Judy,
Check out 'A Little Soothing' on General Discussion. About midway down. For our friend Marsha....

Hey Deborah,
Keep nurturing that powerful intellect of yours. Burma is one of my favorite places to visit, but not in 'this' environment. Recommend the late Christopher Hitchens (see YouTube). Hitch and Orwell are in sync about totalitarianism--particularly when it comes to Burma.
'Burmese Days' is one of my favorite books. 'Shooting an Elephant', a favorite essay.
Big Brother is watching you.
All animals are equal, but some animals are more equal than others.
War is peace. Freedom is slavery. Ignorance is strength.
Newspeak...Doublethink. :-)
Just flipping through our Broughton blog and caught Suzi's and Judy's and Barry's warm comments about their close friend Marsha.
Marsha was my close friend, too, especially during our Lacy and Martin days--she lived around the block from me on Whitman in Coley Forest.. I remember Marsha's fun-loving mother--she was pistol. Marsha was like her mother--so much fun. She and I were often called down for being a little chatty in class--but whether it was Mrs. Barret in first grade or Mr. Brag in tenth, our teachers never had a cross word for Marsha--she was just so funny and fun--the teachers loved her.
To Judy, Suzi, Barry, and me--Marsha was our good friend.

Happy Birthday Nancy, I think we go all the way back to first grade at Frances Lacy together. What a busy and fulfilling life you have led. Hey to Ginger and Abby.:-)
Happy Birthday, John
Keep your head down. :-)
Happy Birthday Jennifer! :-)
Happy Birthday Ron(nie),
Are you still scooting around in that blue Corvair (engine in the rear)? :-)
Happy Birthday Coach. You were always a favorite of mine. :-)

Wow! David...What an amazing resume! Opera and engineering and computers,et al... I think your drinking story actually imparts a sense of being well-rounded, and suggests a bit of a rebel in you as well--particular with a thought about that Shelby GT Mustang. Two weeks! Did you pilfer some faculty member's private stock? :-) Congrats on a life well-lived.

And Happy Birthday!

Happy Birthday David. People were asking about you and a few others from the Nottingham/Devonshire neighborhood--at the reunion. Was fun seeing how we've all changed a bit over the years--mostly for the good. I remember your nice parents and that front yard on Nottingham with a slab of granite fitting nicely into the landscape. Hope you are well--Dan(ny)

Hey Mike,
Long time. Hope you are doing well.
I was just remembering when we were in the eighth grade and went to see Dr. No and From Russia with Love (a double feature) together--a big thrill for me to see such 'adult' movies. They were at the old State Theater downtown. Our parents provided transportation. First Bond movies I had seen and I remember falling asleep during the second feature as it was nearing midnight.
Just a hello to an old friend and thinking about the passing of Sean Connery.
From Pattaya,
